Insert Pun Using “Flip” HereInsert Pun Using “Flip” Here

One of my favorite supermoms pulled out her Flip camera to show off at a recent birthday party, and I admit I nudged a small child out of the way to get a better look. Our home video camera is pretty cool, and the equipment we use here at Bulldog and at our studio partners is, of course, very cool. But none of it fits in my purse or my pocket.

In a recent 360 Digital Influence post on video content strategy, Ogilvy PR Managing Director John Bell notes that his entire team has Flips. I love that idea. ”I have been shooting Flip camera interviews of the bloggers and social media folks I meet throughout the world,” Bell notes. What does that mean? That he has ready video content available with minimal fuss. Moderator Thom Singer pulled out his Flip to grab some video during an Austin Chamber of Commerce panel on social media last month. It was quick and easy and made his blog posting that much more engaging.

My goal here is not to push the Flip but to point to some great illustrations of “just do it” when it comes to incorporating video into an online marketing strategy. Video can be very daunting, but very basic exploration doesn’t have to be, and in these cases it’s clearly as much a part of the users’ daily routine as carrying a phone.

(You can see more information about ways to incorporate video in Five Easy Ways to Use Video for More Effective Online Marketing. Alas, the Flip is not one of them. If it was, there would be video with this post.)
