Hump Day Humor: Make Accounts Payable Thrilling AgainHump Day Humor: Make Accounts Payable Thrilling Again

Preface: So today we had our first blog meeting and I was trying to come up with ideas for my very first blog post.  I thought about writing about swine flu (I will write about swine flu).

I thought I could write about the candidate who came in and told me for a hobby he picks up chicks (we didn’t hire him). Then it came to me as I wrote a note to one of our vendors my Hump day humor reminder went off.
Historical back-story: I currently handle most HR activities and some financial matters here at Bulldog, including accounts payable.(enough history)
Back to my tale: I try to mix it up, get down on the streets and see what the people are seeing when I work on our accounts payable. Some might say accounts payable is not possibly interesting or exciting. I beg to differ. However to keep the thrill alive – I like to participate in something called hump day humor, where I take it upon myself  to increase the likelihood that one of my vendors will have a good chuckle.  Something tame and dorky but yet I’m amused. I have posted random calendar events throughout the year at different times but always on Wednesday. These reminders ding and I am required by penalty of ripping my arm off and beating myself to add something comical to whichever vendor I’m corresponding with at the time.
Today my reminder went off, I asked a vendor to help me because I was drowning in red tape. Instead of thank you for my signature I added gurgle…gurgle…gurgle.  See dorky but yet effective. Try some hump day humor – it could make accounts payable thrilling again.
